First chapter, first two paragraphs, is a meme hosted by Bibliophile by the Sea.
I’m currently reading My Secret Sister, the true story of Helen Edwards & Jenny Lee Smith, twins separated at birth and reunited fifty-seven years later.
Prologue: Jenny
This could be the most important email I ever send. I go over it again, one last time. My finger hovers over the mouse. I hold my breath . . . Click!
‘Haaa!’ It’s gone.
Immediately I panic. It’s taken so many years to reach this point. So much heartache and rejection. I reread it once more. Oh no — I should have said I had a happy childhood. Why didn’t I tell her that? I don’t want her to think I’m jealous.
Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
From the same book:
Jenny: When I was three years old, my dad cut some old wooden golf clubs down to a size I could use and showed me how to hold them. (p.19)
Helen: My father Tommy had come from a self-made family who had earned plenty of money from their building business, and he had his own Bullnose Morris car before the war until his father’s bankruptcy forced him to sell it. (p. 22)
Would you keep reading? Why or why not? Share your current read!
Very intriguing. I am interested to know how/why there were separated and how they found each other.

I’m getting near the end and they still aren’t together. Your guess is as good as mine. Thanks for coming by.

I love reading stories like this. That it’s true must make it quite an emotional read.

The book beginning piqued my interest a bit more than the teaser – I’m curious to know what the email pertains to!

I love the premise of this one….sounds incredibly intriguing. But, I didn’t really love the writing style in the intro, but I’d keep reading a bit more anyway for the premise.

Sounds interesting. I wonder how much their lives had in common and if they are similar to each other. Happy reading!

Thanks. So far, I’d say their lives are quite different: one is well-loved and the other badly abused. I’ll let everyone know how it turns out.
