First Chapter, First Paragraph & Teaser Tuesday: Teen Read Eagle Strike by Anthony Horowitz

fistchapFirst chapter, first paragraph, is a meme hosted by Bibliophile by the Sea.

My current read is a junior/teen read, the 4th in the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz, Eagle Strike.  Here’s the beginning of the Prologue:

The Amazon Jungle.  Fifteen years ago.AlexRiderEagleStrike

It had taken them five days to make the journey, cutting their way through the dense, suffocating undergrowth, fighting through the very air, which hung heavy, moist, and still.  Trees as tall as cathedrals surrounded them, and a strange green light — almost holy — shimmered through the vast canopy of leaves. The rain forest seemed to have an intelligence of its own.  Its voice was the sudden screech of a parrot, the flicker of a monkey swinging through the branches overhead.  It knew they were there.

TeaserTuesdays-ADailyRhythm3-300x203Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here’s the teaser from Chapter 3, Matador, p.37:

A flicker of annoyance passed across the Russian’s face. “You are only alive because I permit it. Please don’t make me ask you a second time.”

Would you keep reading?  Give us a teaser from your current read!

Absolutely love this teaser! I remember these coming out when I was in high school and I won a signed copy from our library – I was so pleased! Unlike now when I realise that was over ten years ago! My how the time flies.

I read the first one in this series when I was still working for the library. I thought it was a fun book and one that boys as well as girls would like. Yes, I’d continue. In fact, I ought to start again with this YA series. 🙂
