Teaser Tuesday: Mary the Magdalene by Margaret George

I’m still reading and enjoying Mary Called Magdalene by Margaret George.  This book is rich with the culture of the time, and the interactions and observations of Jesus’ activities are straight from the Bible gospels but with a bit of commentary from Mary.  It is fascinating history combined with conjecture.  My teaser for today is from p.180:

She had come to the end of her life. The little girl who had picked up the idol out of curiosity was now a demon-ridden woman who had been cast out of her home, tormented and driven to this place of no hope at all.

I will die here, she thought, far away from my home, and my daughter will never even remember me.

I hope you’re as intrigued as I am with a character who is as controversial today as in her own time, a widow, called by Jesus, travelling around the towns and countryside with a group consisting of mostly men, treated as an outcast by her family.  I’m almost to their entry into Jerusalem and read as much as I can each day.
