First Chapter, First Paragraph, is a meme hosted by Bibliophile by the Sea. I read about Flight of Dreams by Ariel Lawhon from another blogger’s Tuesday Teaser and was blown away by the blogger’s enthusiasm. Here’s how the book begins:
U.S. Commerce Department Board of Inquiry — Hindenburg Accident Hearings — May 10, 1937 — Naval Air Station, Main Hangar, Lakehurst, New Jersey
Please inform the Zeppelin company in Frankfurt that they should open and search all mail before it is put on board prior to every flight of the Zeppelin Hindenburg. The Zeppelin is going to be destroyed by a time bomb during its flight to another country.
Letter from Kathie Rusch of Milwaukee to the German embassy in Washington, D.C., dated April 8, 1937.
Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Here’s mine from the same book:
This is Max’s first flight as postmaster, having inherited the position from Kurt Schonherr for this year’s flight season, and he inspects the room carefully to make sure everything is in order. . .
Three hours ago he was given a small package, one hundred newly printed marks, and a promise that if the package is kept safe until their arrival in New Jersey, he would receive another hundred. p.18
The outcome of this book is already known but the events and characters, their varied reasons for being on this flight, are what create the richness and, yes, even suspense as the plot unravels. Would you keep reading?
I like it! I can’t remember reading anything on this subject. I’m interested. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like one of those fictionalized history things that make past events more human. Yeah, I’d read on.
