On My Bookshelf: July 7/17

Well I’ve been absent for quite awhile and got behind in my writing if not totally behind in my reading.  I picked up on my writing last week and am almost caught up on both my goal (75 books for 2017) and publishing about books that I’ve read.  Here’s a teaser about what you’ll see coming up and books that I hope to get to soon:

Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham

—  a new direction for this prolific writer

Princess Elizabeth’s Spy by Susan Elia MacNeal

— I read the first in the series, Mr. Churchill’s Secretary and plan to read the set as they’re extremely well done and thoroughly enjoyable

The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott by Kelly O’Connor McNees

— McNees imagines a biography from letters and diaries of a particular summer in the life of Louisa May Alcott

The Band That Played On: The Extraordinary Story of the 8 Musicians Who Went Down with the Titanic by Steve Turner

An interesting set of biographies about people we all know existed and we nothing more about them.  This brings them to life.

To Win Her Favor (A Belle Meade Plantation Novel, Book 2) by Tamera Alexander

The Book Club Murders: The Oakwood Mystery Series by Leslie Nagel

Don’t know this author at all but am looking forward to it.

Of Stillness and Storm by Michele Phoenix

A family working among the needy in Nepal being torn in different directions.  Sounds interesting.

The Simplest Way to Change the World: Biblical hospitality as a way of life

by Dustin Willis & Brandon Clements

That’s what’s on my bookshelf this Friday afternoon.  What’s on yours?

About mysm2000

Having taught elementary school for more than 25 years and been involved in many amazing technology and curriculum projects, I find I've developed a myriad of interests based on literature I've read and music I've heard. I've followed The Wright Three to Chicago, Ansel Adams to Colorado, The Kon Tiki Expedition to Easter Island, Simon & Garfunkel lyrics to New York City, Frank Lloyd Wright to Fallingwater, Pennsylvania, and have only just begun.
